Industries

AutoMotive
The automotive sector is one of the targeted industries due to its significant added value to the local economy and its potential generation of quality employment. The Royal Commission at Yanbu has allocated a few areas within the industrial city to locate key automotive manufacturing activities such as: Truck Assembly, Supplier Park, Tires and Spare Parts manufacturing. These opportunities include:

  • Brake Pads
  • Filters : Oil, Fuel, Transmission and Air
  • Fan & Drive Belts
  • Batteries
  • Re-manufactured Parts : Starters, Alternators and Air Conditioning Compressors
Renewable Energy
The Royal Commission at Yanbu is targeting to accommodate new manufacturing facilities in Yanbu Industrial City that will be dedicated to manufacture electrical equipment boards and protection systems for Solar and Wind Plants in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The new facilities will be located in the Renewable Energy Industrial cluster being developed by Royal commission at Yaanbu.

The sources of value of the opportunity are based on:

  • Market: more than 130 GW of solar and wind projects in the next 15 yrs in MEA, of which 35 GW will be located in KSA, (a minimum of 450 MW in YIC to support RCY Master Plan power needs by 2020)
  • Competitive edge: invited shareholders are established suppliers (sector and region wise)
  • Tenant establishment facilitation by the RCY (land, building and infrastructures, financing, etc..)
  • Access to an environment with distinct ease-of-doing business, human capital development, supporting supply chain industries and privileged location and infrastructures.
  • Yanbu multimodal logistics hub and location enable excellent goods distribution to the MENA markets
Hydrocarbon
Yanbu industrial City hosts numerous hydrocarbon, petrochemical, and mineral industries, as well as light manufacturing and support industries. Several more plants are in various stages of planning and construction. Yanbu offers few of the investment opportunities in Petrochemicals. However, we will also welcome and support any new ideas from any investor willing to invest in Yanbu.

  • Polypropylene Oxide (PO)
  • Cumene
  • Phenol / Acetone
  • Bisphenol-A
  • Polycarbonate
  • Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR)
  • Sodium Chlorate
  • Sulphonic Acid
  • Potassium Sulphate
  • Brine/Sea Water Concentration Facility (Liquid Bromine as primary product; Other High Value Derivative products produced: Sodium Sulphate & Hydrochloric Acid, Magnesium Sulphate, and Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash)
PlasChem
The core of the PlasChem initiative is the connectivity and clustering of chemical industries and the creation of integrated value chain, which will bring significant added value to the end product. PlasChem area is making this connectivity and integration a reality in Saudi Arabia, with the promotion and development of dedicated parks that are focused on organic synthesis, formulation and conversion of chemicals and plastics.
Spare Parts
The Royal Commission at Yanbu, along with key partner companies, has initiated a program to develop the manufacturing industry for spare parts used in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia core industries. Based on pre-feasibility studies, critical operating parts categories have been identified for desalination, refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, mining, and other industries. These major partner companies are SWCC, Saudi Electric, SABIC, Ma’aden and Marafiq will support this rapidly growing industry. Saudi Arabia alone imports over $27 billion annually in parts for this sector. This is an excellent opportunity for manufacturers since these partners have committed to support the program by purchasing related products manufactured in country, and many other industrial customers are presently operating in the country and region.

Minerals
The Minerals Hub acts as a central storage and distribution facility serviced by road, rail and port facilities. The Hub is surrounded by industrial facilities producing iron and steel products, high value metals and fertilizers. Lower volume exports of high value finished products such as metals and finished steel products would be exported via the existing industrial port as break bulk. The hub will be part of the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub.
Logistic
The Economic Vision 2030 of Royal Commission of Yanbu, plans to attract newer industries such as, Steel, Automotive, Copper, Zinc, Plastics, Chemicals, Desalination etc, the need for a Multi Modal Logistics Hub is required now more than ever in Yanbu’s history.

As a first step, Yanbu, along with Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port, Rabigh will form a ‘Western Rail Corridor’ in partnership with Saudi Railway Company.

The rail connection along with the rail terminal will enable Yanbu tenants to import and export their container volume at Yanbu via Jeddah Islamic Port or King Abdullah Port. The rail terminal is also expected to have a bonded zone with customs clearance facilities. In addition, Royal Commission is developing a Mineral Hub and berth to become the Iron Ore gateway of Saudi Arabia and distribute it across Saudi Arabia by Rail. The MMLH components include:
RAIL TERMINAL
Rail terminal acting as hinterland terminal to Jeddah and Rabigh ports
MARINE BERTHS
Yanbu has existing marine terminals for Oil and Gas and will develop a Mineral berth. The marine container terminal at Yanbu will be upgraded
TRUCK TERMINAL
The truck terminal will operate alongside the rail terminal to run the last mile operations into the industrial city
AIR FREIGHT
The existing airport will handle air freights in future and the airport will have a dedicated road to the Multi Modal Logistics Hub
